SPIRITUALITY IS OUR ROOT

On purpose, I have touched several areas in the following write-up, in order to

create ample food-for-thought. These different areas, highlighted in bold below,

in themselves are so exhaustive that each can have a treatise of its own.

I am starting with the concepts of spirituality gifted by India to the world.

I am humbled and grateful to God that he gave me birth in my beloved India,

whose concepts of spirituality, if practiced, have so much to offer to any seeker

of inner peace. Here, the key is "if practiced", for, the greatest Truth cannot

reveal itself by any knowledge limited to its theory alone.

On this sacred path of spirituality, we go forward a few steps and then step back,

retreat, we go up and down and sideways, and only a few of us on this remarkable

journey remain steadfast. And of these few, how many really are able to cross the

ocean of relative existence without having to be born again !

While we are on this journey, we are still living in the pluralistic world ... our ego is

still present and active as ever, as the experiencer in union with our gunas.

Yes, Atman is ever blissful and can never experience grief and

misery.... but, that is only once we are able to perceive Atman in its purest (note

that here I have used the word, just the "purest", in stead of "purest form" because

Atman is devoid of form), devoid of all names, forms and Upadhies ! And to reach

that state, after our all efforts, we still need the Grace of God to attain That

Oneness ! I do not mean to sound discouraging. Just the opposite, there is ample

joy in just being on the Path. As Lord Krishna said in the Bhagvad Gita,

" ... in this there is no loss of effort ".

This spirituality is our root, we just cannot do without it.
